As our Barista / Attendant, you set that tempo. You'll craft gourmet coffee and specialty beverages to standard, keep the market stocked, clean, and inviting, and handle every interaction with accuracy and care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications.  The job description is not intended to include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future.  The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

  • Brewing gourmet coffee and other specialty beverages.
  • Accurately processing transactions and maintaining a balanced bank.
  • Provides quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
  • Follows operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
  • Follow proper SOP for accepting different methods of payment.
  • Adhere to SOPs regarding employee purchases ensuring application of correct discounts and payment.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.
  • Maintains continuous effort to clean shelves, counters, tables, fixtures, glass and floors.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that coworkers can locate resources and products as needed.
  • Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.
  • Ensure all established cooking procedures and recipes are adhered to and report any deviation or problems to the Executive Chef immediately.
  • Execute the pre and post shift food preparation checklist, verifying preparation dates, amounts, and expiration dates. Including but not limited to the preparation of salads, wraps, parfaits, deli meat, vegetables, pastries, empanadas, and others as needed.
  • Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance, in compliance with assigned schedule and operational needs.
  • Proper knowledge of equipment use and safety procedures.
  • Understand and acknowledge the proper uniform and grooming standards.
  • Ensure that the public areas are maintained and cleaned.
  • Assist with monthly inventory.
  • Ensuring SOP is followed on obtaining guest room numbers and signature for room charges.
  • Maintain and enforce consistent sanitation procedures, including but not limited to: cleanliness and organization of all walk-ins, reach-ins, shelves, drawers, and freezers in the main kitchen.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays. 
  • At least two (2) years of food and beverage experience.
  • Basic math skills needed to understand and implement recipes and measurements.
  • Good eye/hand coordination needed to use all kitchen equipment.
  • Requires a working knowledge of sanitation standards.
  • Prepares daily requisition for supplies and food items for production
  • Work cohesively with entire hotel staff as part of a team.
  • Maintain food preparation handling and correct storage standards.
  • Support procedures for food & beverage portion and waste controls.
  • Understands, follows and maintains all standardized recipes.
  • Maintain all coolers and freezers, prep area and equipment up to State Health Department codes at all times.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills in Spanish and English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to transport at least 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.  
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling at least thirty (30) pounds maximum.
  • Constant standing & walking required.
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
