Job Summary

The Director of Sales (DOS) is responsible for the overall sales operations of the hotel, with a primary focus on maximizing revenue, expanding business relationships, and developing strategies that drive both group and transient sales. The DOS will oversee the creation and implementation of strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts for business development, while leading a high-performing sales team.

The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for the sales division to drive hotel sales and optimize revenue growth.

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a dynamic sales team. Create a performance-driven culture fueled by vision, empowerment, and development.

  • Analyze the competitive landscape and evaluate the effectiveness of sales programs to maximize revenue.

  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to enhance visibility, grow market share, and drive new business opportunities.

  • Partner with Finance to ensure sales plans are aligned with budgetary goals and deliver desired profitability.

  • Generate and develop new business in alignment with organizational targets.

  • Manage and expand relationships with new and existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify growth opportunities.

  • Actively pursue leads through research, cold calling, networking, and attending conventions, trade shows, and industry events.

  • Prepare and implement sales and business development plans, forecasts, and strategies.

  • Understand prospective clients business needs, structure, and decision-makers to develop tailored solutions and long-term partnerships.

  • Serve as a liaison between client companies and hotel operations to ensure seamless communication and service.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Essential Job Functions
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet business demands.

  • Maintain and grow a robust client base through regular engagement and needs-based selling.

  • Ensure consistent contact with key clients to support retention and maximize revenue potential.

  • Develop and track performance metrics and post-event analyses.

  • Represent the hotel at key industry functions to increase exposure and capture market trends.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.

  • Minimum 35 years of successful sales experience in the hotel or hospitality industry.

  • Proven leadership ability with strong team-building and coaching skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong negotiation, project management, and account management expertise.

  • Experience presenting to individuals and groups at all levels of an organization.

  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask, solve problems, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Delphi (or similar CRM systems).

  • Creative, innovative, and adaptable to changing priorities.

  • High level of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and client service orientation.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly.

  • Frequent use of hands for phone, typing, and office equipment.

  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds as needed.
