JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR) is a key executive leader responsible for developing and executing the company’s human resources strategy to support a multi-property hotel management organization. This role oversees all HR functions—including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, labor compliance, and organizational culture. The VP of HR partners closely with senior leadership and property-level management teams to drive an engaged workforce, ensure operational excellence, and uphold the company’s service and brand standards across all hotels.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth plans.
    • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent needs.
    • Lead HR initiatives that support brand consistency, service quality, and employee engagement across all properties.
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development
    • Direct corporate and property-level recruitment strategies to attract top hospitality talent.
    • Oversee onboarding, training, and leadership development programs to ensure operational readiness and career growth.
    • Create succession planning frameworks for key property and corporate roles.
  • Employee Relations & Culture
    • Champion a positive, inclusive, and service-driven company culture.
    • Provide oversight on employee relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution.
    • Ensure consistent application of company policies and HR best practices across all locations.
  • Compensation, Benefits & Compliance
    • Oversee the design and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
    • Ensure company-wide compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour regulations relevant to hospitality operations.
    • Manage HR audits, risk mitigation processes, and policy updates.
  • HR Operations & Reporting
    • Direct HR systems, data integrity, and reporting, including turnover analysis and workforce metrics.
    • Develop and manage the HR budget, vendor relationships, and departmental resources.
    • Drive continuous improvement in HR processes, technologies, and service delivery.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • 5+ years of HR Leadership, preferably in hospitality experience.
    • Strong knowledge of hospitality industry workforce demands, labor trends, and hotel operations.
    • Expertise in employment law, HR compliance, and multi-state HR management.
    • Demonstrated success in developing HR strategies within a multi-location or hotel management environment.
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to build trust and credibility with employees at all levels, from front-line associates to ownership groups.
    • Proven ability to manage change, lead organizational initiatives, and implement HR systems or technology platforms.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
    • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
    • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
    • Ability to travel frequently to hotel properties, corporate meetings, industry events, and training sessions (up to 30–50% depending on business needs).
    • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
